Love One Another. No Exceptions.
The United Church of Cookeville is an inclusive fellowship dedicated to seeking and serving Christ in humility and love.
At a time when religion is too often portrayed as narrow-minded and exclusive, we are a congregation where God is all-loving and inclusive; where the Church of Jesus Christ welcomes and accepts everyone as they are; where your mind is nourished as much as your soul; where Jesus the healer meets Jesus the revolutionary; and where together we grow a just and peaceful world.
Jesus didn’t turn people away, and neither do we.
As Christians, we are called to love our neighbors. At the United Church of Cookeville we gratefully welcome immigrants and refugees. We are advocates for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, affirming a place at God’s table for everyone as witnesses to Christ’s extravagant welcome. We give thanks for the abilities and disabilities – apparent and unapparent – we all possess while ensuring our building and fellowship is accessible to all. We are committed to boldly proclaiming that we are a justice-doing, peace-seeking church. We care about God’s creation and all that is within by caring for our environment and being good stewards of our resources. We work for economic justice across the spectrum of race, class, and global inequality. We work to reduce stigma and promote the inclusion of people with mental illnesses or brain disorders and their families in the life and leadership of our congregation.
